Being pregnant is arguably the most magical and precious thing for any woman. Witnessing a baby’s development from its first heartbeat, to the formation of its tiny fingers and toes, and to its very first gender reveal AT an ob-gyn clinic… all of it is almost surreal. Being able to feel all of it, every move, every kick of the baby is on a whole new level. But seeing it on an ultrasound, seeing its adorable tiny nose, hands making a fist, guessing whether it’s a boy or a girl, and debating whose parent it looks like the most must be the most rewarding part of the pregnancy.
But this opportunity has been stolen away from the 30-year-old Brazilian Tatiana Guerra who lost her sight when she was just 17 years old. Tatiana had to rely on her doctors to describe what her baby, Murilo, looked like when she was 20 weeks pregnant.
But little did Tatiana know, on her trip to the ob-gyn, the doctors were planning a sweet surprise.
Briefly 15 minutes after the ultrasound session, the doctor asked her, “If you could touch him, would that let you know what he’s like?” and her response was a grinning “Yes.” The doctor then handed her a cloth-wrapped package of the 3D image of her baby, that made her break down in tears, with her smile reaching from ear to ear. It read in braille, “I am your son,” and below it is the 3D image of her son, giving her a glimpse of how he looks.
