The rainy season has once again arrived in our country and with the downpours that it brings down upon us come the cruel diseases as well. One of the most popular diseases that are tracked during the rainy season, most especially in the Philippines is the dengue virus.
The World Health Organization states that dengue is a “mosquito-bornedisease that causes severe flu-illness or, in some cases, a potentially lethal complication called dengue”.
The disease chooses no one and it targets anyone that it can, including some of the most famous celebrities that we know. Here are some celebrities who shared their traumatic experiences in contracting the virus:
Nadine Lustre got the virus last September 2017.She was in shock to find out that after 2 weeks of not feeling well, she was diagnosed with dengue as she came for a check up in September 23. They suspect that she got the disease when Nadine hiked to Mt. Ulap in Itogon, Benguet earlier that month with celebrity boyfriend James Reid.
Stepdaughters star Edgar Allan Guzman is also one of the celebrities who was unfortunate enough to contract the disease. He got the infection in 2011, saying he felt really sick after a shoot in Bataan for a certain soap opera.
Judy Ann Santos’ husband Ryan Agoncillo was also a victim. Not once, but TWICE. First when he was a kid and 2nd back in 2013. Getting the virus forced him to leave Eat Bulaga for 2 weeks as he suffered with pneumonia as well. Ryan expressed how much he missed his kids (Yohan and Lucho) during those times in 2013 because they were preventing them from getting sick as well.
Angel Locsin was also unlucky enough to get hit with the virus twice. She first got the infection back in 2006 as she filmed “I Will Always Love You” with former on screen partner Richard Gutierrez in San Francisco, California. 3 years later, she got the disease again.
Recently, the latest celebrity reported to have gotten the disease is Kapuso child star Baeby Baste. He has missed Eat Bulaga episodes this month being confined in the hospital. Celebrities like Alden Richards, Dawn Zulueta and Ben Chan himself have wished for the child star’s speedy recovery.
Let’s hope we see less news about people acquiring this disease especially in this year’s rainy season.
