Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards remain two of the most talented and beloved celebrities of this generation. However, one has to admit that the limelight is no longer shining as brightly on their tandem as it did before. Maine herself has expressed fatigue over it — as well as the other heavy demands of the entertainment industry.
Maine stirred controversy with some of her tweets in addition to taking a sabbatical for a few weeks. Now that she’s back, however, rumors persist that she is getting a new onscreen partner – this time it’s a popular Kapamilya actor!

Yes, a report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal says that Maine Mendoza is being considered for a Metro Manila Film Festival entry that is unlikely to include Alden Richards. Instead, rumor has it that is will feature a team-up between two of the most popular actors from rival networks GMA and ABS-CBN: Vic Sotto and Coco Martin, respectively!
CCM Film Productions, owned by Coco Martin himself, is reportedly in talks with some GMA entities for this team-up. Aside from Maine Mendoza, Maricel Soriano is also being considered for a lead role.
If netizen speculations prove accurate, Vic Sotto would be paired with Maricel for the movie, while Coco Martin and Maine Mendoza take center stage as a love team.

No reports have come out confirming this, however.
Now, you might be wondering if Maine and Coco are actually allowed to pair up, being from rival networks and all. Well, apparently Coco never signed an exclusivity contract with ABS-CBN and Star Cinema, making him somewhat like a free agent.
So yes, technically and legally, there’s no stopping him from taking the helm of a film opposite Maine Mendoza.
This early, though, some netizens are already expressing dismay, saying Maine and Coco don’t look good together. Some are even slamming Coco for his alleged lack of “utang na loob” to ABS-CBN since he is exploring outside options.
