Nadine Lustre is one of the most phenomenal female actresses and performers today. From being a girl-next-door extra on television, she transcended into an IT girl and a trendsetter today thanks to her beauty, confidence, and talent.
Today, even though Nadine Lustre was set on a pedestal by her avid fans, did you know that she also had her lowest points in the past? It might be difficult to imagine the actress with insecurities, but she revealed that she also went through the pangs of puberty.
During an interview with Boy Abunda, the 24-year-old actress spilled the beans about her insecurities. Speaking to the renowned host, Nadine narrated that she was very conscious about her body:
“Growing up I had a lot of insecurities. I had a lot of things I wanted to change physically. Ang dami kong gustong magawa. Feeling ko ang daming mali sa akin. So growing up I had to learn how to deal with all those things.”
She’s one of the few celebrities who managed to nail their ‘morena’ complexion. Although she’s making the most out of her sun-kissed skin in her latest makeup collection, “Lustrous,” she’s had big insecurities about it in the past.
There came a point where she even competed with other mestiza talents during a casting call for a commercial:
“The biggest one is my skin color. It was really my skin color, because I remember before pag pupunta ako ng mga VTRs for TV commercials. Mga chairs yan and then nag-aantay kami para matawag for the VTR and lahat ng mga katabi ko e mga mestiza. Pumasok sa isip ko na ang lahat ng na-aapprove for the TV commercials are all the mestizas so like there was a point in my life na parang sinabi ko na sana mestiza na lang din ako so I can get projects and I can get like work also.”
Even though she had her qualms about her skin in the past, she learned to love it as time went on. The journey to self-acceptance was definitely not easy, but she managed to open up her heart and ‘embrace’ her own uniqueness.
“I realized that I’m unique and no one else has what I have so I became proud of it. I embraced it.”
