The supernatural genre has a huge following because many people still believe that there are plenty of things left unexplained in this world. You’ve probably heard of hundreds of channels and podcasts dedicated to talking about the paranormal and the occasional conspiracy theory. There’s one story about a “bottomless pit” that stands out among all the rest – called Mel’s Hole.
On the American radio show called “Coast to Coast,” a certain caller named Mel Waters surprised host Art Bell and his viewers with the most ridiculous story they’ve ever heard. The eccentric caller started the story by saying that he owned some property back in a town near Ellensburg, Washington.
In this property lay a huge bottomless pit that Mel claims to be 80,000 ft drop. He said that he measured the depth using fishing wire supposedly. if ever this claim was true, then the hole in his property would be the deepest pit recorded in history.
What’s more bizarre than the fact that Mel’s hole is very deep, are the stories tied to it. The narrator’s neighbors know about the hole and often use it to discard their garbade. One story claims that Mel’s neighbor came close to the pit to throw his dead inside of it. One would think that was the end of the story – but things got weird afterwards.
Reportedly, after a few days went by, his neighbor saw his supposedly dead canine friend walking around the area. It was the same dog with the same collar and fur pattern.
Of course, believing that this mysterious supernatural pit is true is a shot in the dark. Yet there are those who “confirmed” that this was all legit. A Native American neighbor named Red Elk said that he knew of this hole because of his father. Meanwhile three film students followed the coordinates of where the hole was supposedly in and sure enough they found a deep hole in the ground.
They tried to test it out but before they can actually get hard evidence, the property’s owner shooed them away. There are things in this world that are truly, completely unexplainable but real. It might not hurt to believe that this supernatural bottomless pit is one of them.
